Since Sparkassenstiftung Albania’s Online National Stakeholder Workshop at the start of November - and the official launch of the Strengthening Financial Literacy project - many exciting meetings have taken place between Sparkassenstiftung Albania and public and non-public institutions.
A representative from the Albanian Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth participated in the National Stakeholder Workshop and expressed interest to arrange a meeting after the workshop.
On 13.November the suggested meeting took place at the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth office. Mr. Oltion Rrumbullaku, the Deputy Minister of Education, Sports and Youth represented the Ministry, meeting with Mrs. Anja Deinzer, Sparkassenstiftung Albania Country Director and Regional Director of South East Europe and Mr. Kliton Vaso, Sparkassenstiftung Banking Expert. During the meeting both parties shared ideas as well as possible opportunities for further cooperation.
Mrs. Deinzer explained in detail the scope of the Sparkassenstiftung project in Albania, highlighting the important roles financial education and financial literacy can play in positively impacting the Albanian population. She explained how effective these impacts can be and discussed financial education; from the first steps all the way to university education. She shared the positive results of such approaches which have been experienced in other countries where Sparkassenstiftung has implemented projects, highlighting the innovative dissemination and methodology which Sparkassenstiftung currently applies in its worldwide projects.
Mr. Rrumbullaku took time to explain the current approaches to financial education and financial literacy in the Albanian school curricula, outlining some of the financial literacy topics which have been included in the elementary and high school mathematics curricula. He suggested a join approach to work with the Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-university Education (ASCAP) to adapt and further develop curricular content. Mr. Rrumbullaku also suggested to approach the Universities of Economy aiming to introduce the Sparkassenstiftung Business Game module which could become an effective education tool during the first years of university.

It was a very promising meeting and Sparkassenstiftung Albania is looking forward to further cooperation and a special focus on these topics in the coming months.
